ICR aimed to revitalise its online presence to reflect its pioneering research and effectively engage a diverse audience, including researchers, donors, students, and collaborators. The objective was to create a modern, user-friendly website that enhanced visitor experience, increased online donations, and streamlined recruitment processes.
To achieve this, ICR partnered with Appius for a comprehensive website redesign. The collaboration encompassed envisioning, planning, and production, resulting in a cutting-edge platform built in Sitefinity DX. The project emphasised modern design, robust integration, and scalability to meet ICR's future requirements. Leveraging Appius’ collaborative approach, ICR successfully launched the website on time and within budget, establishing a strengthened digital presence.
The technical transformation focused on reimagining ICR’s digital infrastructure with Sitefinity DX at its core. This upgrade replaced the legacy system with an intuitive CMS, enabling ICR’s content editors to manage and scale content efficiently.
The project included seamless CRM integration to facilitate recruitment and donation journeys. Enhanced analytics capabilities were introduced, providing insights into user behaviour and enabling ICR to refine its digital strategies.
Accessibility and performance optimisation were paramount, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards and delivering a fast, responsive experience across all devices. The design overhaul incorporated a modular component library, granting ICR’s team flexibility in content presentation while maintaining brand consistency.
The new platform empowers ICR to deliver personalised content tailored to specific cancer types and audience segments, enhancing user engagement and relevance. This capability ensures that researchers, donors, and patients can quickly access the most pertinent information. Additionally, split testing functionality has been integrated, enabling ICR to experiment with different approaches and optimise the donation journey, driving higher conversion rates.
The platform builds on ICR’s existing integration with GoDonate by enhancing the analytics and tracking capabilities that sit behind it. These improvements provide deeper insights into donation activity, increasing visibility and enabling more detailed reporting on donation performance. By capturing richer data across the entire donation journey, ICR can better understand user behaviour, identify opportunities for improvement, and measure key performance indicators more effectively. These refinements support data-driven decision-making and help optimise fundraising efforts over time.
